Return to life within a month and a half
Optimism, strength of character, and focus on results, along with trust and close collaboration with the medical team, are the keys to successful rehabilitation.
Ivan Vasylynets (19 years old, from Drotintsi village, Zakarpattia region).
A humble and kind young man, Ivan had been volunteering since the fourth day of the war, helping those who left their homes and found refuge in his native Zakarpattia. Ivan's volunteer headquarters in Vynohradiv provided displaced people with essential hygiene products, food, and temporary shelter.
A failed dive into a river at the beginning of summer turned tragic, putting Ivan's life at risk.
As a result of the dive, Ivan sustained severe injuries:
✔️ Closed spinal cord injury (CSCI)
✔️ Compression fracture of C4 with intraspinal displacement of a bone fragment
✔️ Comminuted fracture of the anterior C6
✔️ Fracture of cervical vertebrae
Ivan underwent a difficult surgery in Uzhhorod, and three weeks later, he was brought to the "Modrychi" Medical Rehabilitation Center's intensive care unit.
Ivan was:
At our center, Ivan underwent comprehensive examinations, including CBC, urinalysis, coagulation tests, blood biochemical analysis, comprehensive ultrasound, vascular ultrasound, and ECG. He also received consultations with a therapist, urologist, vascular surgeon, and surgeon.
We witnessed his return to life over the course of a month and a half.
At "Modrychi," Ivan was verticalized, helped to sit up, and his bedsores were treated.
The patient underwent:
At our center, Ivan Vasylynets began to:
✔️ Dress himself (upper body);
✔️ Eat with adaptive utensils;
✔️ Learn to write;
✔️ Regain sensation in his right hand and partially in his left hand, as well as on the right side of his body.
Upon discharge from the rehabilitation center, the patient received recommendations for further treatment and rehabilitation, along with an individualized home rehabilitation program.
