Dina Baranyuk, who survived a horrific car accident, was brought to "Modrychi" completely bedridden. She was breathing with the help of a tracheostomy, eating through a gastrostomy, was immobile, and could not even turn herself independently.

She had been in a coma for three months prior to this, 36 days on a ventilator, and had undergone complex surgeries…

After arriving at Modrichi, Dina underwent diagnostics and consultations with a physician specializing in physical and rehabilitation medicine, as well as with a neurologist, ophthalmologist, and therapist. Based on these results, an individual rehabilitation plan was created.

Thanks to the work of the physician specializing in physical rehabilitation medicine, the girl's overall condition was maintained stable. Subsequently, her physical state began to improve, and Dina was able to undergo a full rehabilitation course.

The patient began intensive work with:

✔️ Physical therapist;
✔️ Occupational therapist;
✔️ Speech therapist.

Rehabilitation was conducted according to a program developed jointly by the multidisciplinary team, taking into account the individual recovery needs and the girl's physical capabilities.

The speech therapist focused on safe swallowing, breathing, restoring speech function, and understanding spoken language.

In cases of severe traumatic brain injuries, the speech therapist primarily aims to establish contact with the patient, assess the capabilities and extent of the damage, and accordingly develop individualized approaches for restoring lost functions.

After ten days of rehabilitation, the tracheostomy that Dina had for almost six months was removed.

Thanks to the joint efforts of doctors, physical therapists, occupational therapists, psychologists, and speech therapists, after just one month of rehabilitation, Dina began eating, swallowing, and breathing independently! She was able to stand with the support of a cane, sit, speak softly, and she started walking!
